Role Description:

Our Business Development Representatives (BDRs) identify and evaluate growing, small to mid-sized ecommerce brands, exploring tech-driven supply chain solutions using the full suite of ShipBob's services. A BDR’s main goal is to set qualified meetings with our Account Executives and achieve a monthly quota by meeting or exceeding expected metrics for outbound outreach and demos set and converted.

The BDR role is a great fit for candidates looking to develop their skills and grow within their sales career. You’ll start your first month at ShipBob with a comprehensive onboarding program designed to set you up for success. You’ll learn the ins and outs of the role through industry, product, and sales training, practicing your skills, and shadowing experienced BDRs. Along the way, you'll get hands-on experience with tools like Salesforce, Outreach, Gong, and 6sense, and build skills in data analysis for sales insights, prospecting strategies, negotiation, and consultative selling. Together, these will give you a strong foundation for long-term success in sales.

Start as a BDR and unlock opportunities to grow your career across the organization, with promotion eligibility beginning at 9–18 months. This role will report to a Manager, Business Development.

What you’ll do:

• Drive Growth: Source new business by identifying, researching, and qualifying new leads weekly, resulting in 10+ prospects added to your book of business per day.

• Proactive Outreach: Engage a prospect pipeline via high volume multi-channel outreach (outbound cold calls, emails and social selling) leading to 40+ dials, 6+ connected calls, and 25+ minutes of talk time daily.

• Engage Decision-Makers: Connect with key stakeholders at target companies to understand their current operations and determine alignment with our solutions.

• Advocate & Advise: Flag non-ICP merchant opportunities to leadership for book of business refinement.

• Collaborate for Success: Schedule qualified demos for Account Executives and help drive deals forward through strategic partnership.

• Own the Metrics: Meet and exceed daily activity benchmarks and contribute consistently to monthly and annual revenue goals.

• 1:1 Coaching: Connect weekly on 1:1’s with your manager, a dedicated mentor and with the Account Executive team to keep a pulse on industry trends, competitive movements, and evolving market needs to inform outreach strategy and messaging.

• Additional duties and responsibilities as necessary.

What you’ll bring to the table:

• 1-2 years of outbound BDR or SDR experience preferred; however, strong candidates with demonstrated coursework or internship experience in sales encouraged to apply.

• Experience cold calling and smart selling to various types of businesses or merchants.

• A coachable mindset: you seek feedback, apply it quickly, and consistently improve.

• A high degree of diligence and accountability.

• Comfortable in a competitive environment, with evidence of personal ambition.

• Relentless persistence in the face of daily rejection and delays from potential merchants.

• An aptitude for research and understanding data.

• A plus: Exposure to account-based prospecting, including building relationships with multiple contacts within a company.
