AECOM is seeking an experienced Force Account Inspector to perform construction engineering and inspections on a variety of construction projects including railroad, bridge and highway in Connecticut. Come join our team on these exciting projects!
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
• Participates in scheduling of force account activities to meet project goals.
• Responsible for coordination of all railroad force account work.
• Monitors conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties.
• Performs daily field inspections and maintains inspection records.
• Participates in punch lists, testing, and commissioning.
• Tracks quality assurance progress reports.
• Provides input to documentation for area and equipment turnovers.
• Conduct field inspections and monitor railroad construction activities
• Gather and document field information, including workforce activities, and daily site conditions.
• Record and verify onsite equipment used for force account billing.
• Document materials delivered, installed, and incorporated into the work.
• Inspect, monitor, and document tie installation activities to verify proper placement, alignment, and quality standards.
• Inspect, monitor, and document track surfacing operations, inspect switch installation activities, verify components, assembly, and conform with the project scope of work.
• Maintain detailed daily inspection reports, photographic records, and field documentation of work progress.
• Identify and report deficiencies, non-conforming work, safety concerns, and potential schedule impacts to project management.
Minimum Qualifications:
• HS Diploma and 4 years of related railroad construction experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Proven experience in performing inspections on railroad construction projects.
• Valid Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
• As a condition of employment, candidate must pass a drug screening.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules as needed for projects, including overnight work.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules as needed for projects, including overnight work.
• Capable of performing office and administrative duties during downtime to support daily operations.
• Prepare and complete detailed inspection reports accurately and in a timely manner.
• Maintain organized records and ensure all reports meet company standards and regulatory requirements.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• 49 CFR FRA 213.7 Certified or ability to achieve certification
• Experience working with the Connecticut Dept. of Transportation (CTDOT), Metro-North, or Amtrak
• Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
• Relocation is not available for this position
