The CNC Programmer will program Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines (Milling, Waterjet, Cutter), perform setup and machining first runs of new machined parts, conduct operator training, and setup of production and maintenance support items using CNC Mills, Standard Mills, Standard Lathes, Waterjet and Textile Cutters and other related equipment.

First Shift Schedule:  Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

What You'll Do

• Program for Precision: Develop, modify, and prove out CNC programs for mills, routers, waterjets, and textile cutters, supporting both new product development and ongoing production needs.

• Bring Designs to Life: Interpret engineering drawings, customer specifications, machining parameters, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) requirements to plan effective machining processes.

• Set Up & Optimize: Perform machine setups, configure tooling and offsets, establish reference points, and verify program accuracy through first-run machining and inspection.

• Leverage Advanced Software: Use Mastercam, AutoCAD, and 3D modeling tools to develop machining programs for simple and complex parts. Program waterjet and textile cutting equipment using applicable software.

• Solve Technical Challenges: Troubleshoot machining issues, adjust programs and controls, replace worn tooling, and maintain quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.

• Design Custom Solutions: Develop fixtures, tooling, experimental parts, and working sketches to support specialized production and engineering requirements. Coordinate with vendors to fabricate custom tooling when needed.

• Support Production Excellence: Create and maintain accurate machining work instructions, manage CNC tooling inventory, and help improve work center efficiency.

• Share Your Expertise: Train production employees in the safe and effective operation of CNC equipment, promoting consistent processes and quality results.

• Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with engineering, production, and other departments to resolve problems, meet customer requirements, and support continuous improvement.

• Work Safely: Follow established safety practices, company policies, and applicable quality and environmental management requirements.

What You'll Bring

Education & Experience

• Associate degree in Applied Science in Computer-Integrated Machining or a related discipline from a two-year college or technical school, or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience.

• Previous experience as a CNC programmer or machinist in a manufacturing or product development environment is preferred.

Technical Expertise

• Proficiency in G-code programming and CNC machining processes.

• Experience with Mastercam 2024 or newer and AutoCAD 2024 or newer.

• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, customer specifications, and GD&T requirements.

• Ability to machine both fibrous materials and metals.

• Strong mathematical skills, including basic calculations, geometry, and trigonometry.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and other relevant computer-based systems.

Experience with the following equipment and systems is a plus:

• 3-axis CNC routers and mills, particularly MultiCam.

• 5-axis CNC routers and mills, particularly C.R. Onsrud machines with MachMotion or FANUC controllers.

• Aggregates and angle heads.

• FLOW waterjet systems and Flow Cut/Flow Path software.

• Eastman textile cutters and Eastman Cut Pro software.

• Standard machining equipment, including conventional mills and lathes.

The Qualities That Will Set You Apart

• Analytical problem-solver: You can break down complex machining challenges, troubleshoot issues, and develop practical solutions.

• Detail-oriented: You understand that precision, accuracy, and careful verification are essential to producing quality parts.

• Independent and resourceful: You take initiative, exercise sound judgment, and know how to find answers when challenges arise.

• Collaborative communicator: You work effectively with people across departments and organizational levels, sharing technical information clearly and respectfully.

• Continuous improver: You look for opportunities to improve machining processes, work instructions, tooling, and overall work center performance.

• Committed to safety and quality: You take pride in following established procedures and helping others work safely and effectively.

Working Environment & Physical Requirements

This position works in both office and manufacturing environments, with exposure to loud noise, moving mechanical equipment, and fumes or airborne particles. Required personal protective equipment (PPE) includes approved footwear, safety glasses or goggles, and respirators when applicable.

The role requires the ability to sit and stand for extended periods, bend, reach, use stairs, and lift up to 50 pounds, with occasional team lifting of up to 100 pounds. Effective communication and the ability to use computers and related equipment are also required. Reasonable accommodations will be considered where feasible.
