We are seeking a Senior Microsoft Purview Engineer.  This is a staff augmentation role, anticipated to be for 6 months to 12 months with possible conversion to a full-time role.  We are seeking a hands-on Senior Microsoft Purview Engineer to run Purview in a live production tenant, not just a lab or a sales role. The ideal candidate possesses hands-on experience implementing and operating enterprise-class Data Security Posture Management (DSPM), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Information Protection, Records Management, eDiscovery, Insider Risk, and Data Governance solutions. Experience with platforms such as Microsoft Purview and other similar security control tools.

This role requires an individual who can operate at both the technical and strategic levels, partnering with Security, Legal, Compliance, Privacy, IT, Data Governance, and business stakeholders to mature and scale enterprise data protection capabilities.

PRIMARY DUTIES: From day one: run and tune the client's Purview setup: labels, DLP, retention, insider risk, eDiscovery. Over time help grow the data protection program and report on it to legal, compliance and security leaders.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 7 years in IT Security; 5+ years in Data Protection

Required experience:

• Sensitivity labels and classification: built a label taxonomy, set up auto-labeling, and rolled labels out to users

• Purview DLP: wrote and tuned policies across Exchange, SharePoint/OneDrive, Teams and endpoints, and worked the alerts

• Microsoft 365 security admin: roles, RBAC, Entra ID basics

• Has worked directly with legal, compliance, privacy or audit teams

Plus, at least one of these areas of experience, the more the better:

• eDiscovery (Premium) and legal holds

• Insider Risk Management or Communication Compliance

• Retention policies and records management (Data Lifecycle Management)

• DSPM, or finding sensitive data outside Microsoft 365 (cloud, SaaS, on-prem file shares)

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, understand, and interpret job-related documents, instructions, policies, and communications in English. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with employees, customers, vendors, and other business partners, as applicable to the position.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS: None

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: SC-401 (Information Security Administrator), SC-400 (older version), SC-100, SC-200

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Regular use of hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment, including repetitive motions such as typing, scrolling, and mouse use. Ability to communicate effectively and understand verbal communication in person, by telephone, and through video conferencing or other remote communication tools. Ability to view and read information on computer screens and printed materials, including the ability to adjust focus. The position requires prolonged periods of computer use and viewing a computer screen.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours a week

PAY:  $80.00 - $125.00/ hour depending upon experience.
