We are hiring an experienced Senior Project Engineer for the Traffic section of our New England Transportation Division. This is a hybrid position that can be based out of our Quincy or Woburn, MA office or Providence, RI office.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the technical supervision of complex projects and ensuring the work performed is high quality and conforms to the contractual scope of work, budget and schedule
• Oversee or prepare traffic studies including traffic analyses and models for a variety of projects.
• Develop traffic solutions for a variety of projects by applying engineering knowledge and skills to produce quality work.
• Oversee or prepare traffic signal design plans and special provisions.
• Oversee or prepare traffic sign, pavement markings, and traffic management plans.
• Maintain positive relationships with clients
• Participate in developing the technical approach for proposals
• Assist Project Managers in the following: the planning, coordination, and execution of both large and small projects; assisting in the development and execution of the project scope of work; complying with assigned project schedules and budget on projects by actively reporting on project progress and identifying additional work outside the contractual scope; developing technical approaches, schedules, and fee estimates for proposals on large-scale or more complex projects to produce an effective and quality proposal.
• Prepare articulate technical memoranda, reports, proposals, contracts, and subcontract scopes of work.
• Perform traffic peer reviews of private development projects, preparing written findings and presenting them to municipal boards.
• Supervise and train less experienced staff by providing daily guidance and checking their work and progress; manage a direct report and workload management, approve timesheets and expense reports, and guide career path development.
• Maintain quality control within the department by reviewing designs, calculations, and assumptions on projects.
• Prepare for and perform oral presentations to the public, to municipal boards, to clients regarding project deliverables, and to external associations and professional conferences.
What We're Looking For:
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
• 5+ years of traffic experience
• Registered Professional Engineer, working towards licensure or ability to obtain by reciprocity in Massachusetts within one year.
• Knowledge of MassDOT traffic study requirements and the MassDOT design process a plus.
• Expertise in Synchro software required
• Experience using SIDRA and PTV Vissim a plus.
• A valid driver’s license with good driving history is required.
