Design the systems that support millions of people at work. When someone at Amazon has a question about any HR topic like their pay, their leave, a benefit, or a sensitive situation with their team, we own the platform and tools that enable our HR teams to efficiently and effectively support all Amazonians. We are rebuilding that experience on a single, intelligent platform called Service Central, a unified place where employees get answers and where the specialists who support them do their work. We are looking for a Sr. UX Designer to shape how those products look, feel, and behave from end to end.

You will own design for complex, high-scale products where the routine is handled quickly and automatically, so that the people who support employees can spend their time on the questions that need judgment, empathy, and care. This is a rare chance to define new patterns from the ground up, on products used by a very large, global audience across all the countries we operate in, support multiple languages, and to set the standard that other design teams build on.

What sets this role apart:

- You will design at a scale that reaches millions of people, and your patterns will be reused far beyond your own products.

- You will define how intelligent, human-centered products behave in a domain where trust, clarity, and a clear path to a real person matter more than almost anywhere else.

- You will work through genuine ambiguity, shaping problems that do not yet have an established design language.

Key job responsibilities

- Own end-to-end design for complex products on Service Central, translating user insight, business goals, and technical constraints into intuitive experiences across web and mobile.

- Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs, with the detailed specifications engineering needs to build with confidence.

- Design intelligent, human-centered interactions that keep people informed and in control: making it clear when a suggestion is a recommendation to accept or refine, and when a request is being handled by a person rather than an automated step.

- Set direction on ambiguous problems, articulate trade-offs and rationale, and align designers, product managers, engineers, and business leaders around a shared vision.

- Contribute reusable patterns and standards back to the wider design community, particularly for how people and intelligent systems work together.

A day in the life

You will work alongside designers, researchers, product managers, engineers, and data scientists to invent and refine end-to-end experiences. A typical week moves between two altitudes. Some days you are deep in the craft of a single flow, deciding how a specialist reviews a case, sees the context they need, and confirms or adjusts a recommended next step before anything happens. Other days you are zoomed out, shaping how an entire product fits together and communicating that vision to senior leaders who help clear the path.

A recurring design question runs through the work: for any given task, should the product complete it automatically, offer a suggestion for a person to approve, or hand off to a human who owns it end to end? You will help make that judgment visible and trustworthy in the interface, so the experience always feels considerate and in the person's control. You will move quickly from sketches and prototypes to high-fidelity design, put your ideas in front of real users, and refine based on what you learn.

About the team

HR Experience Technology designs and builds the products people rely on when they need support at work. Our customers are the many HR roles across the company, that help our Amazonians checking a pay issue, to a specialist resolving a complex, sensitive case. Our purpose is to make their working lives easier through thoughtful, high-quality design. We bring interaction design, visual design, service design, and research together into one user-centered practice.

Our vision is a support experience that feels simple and personal at a scale of millions, delivered through one connected platform rather than a patchwork of separate tools. Over the coming years we are reimagining how that support works, using technology to take the friction out of routine tasks so the people who support employees can focus on the moments that matter most. You will help lead that shift, and your work will shape both the products and the standards we design by.
