Responsibilties:
• Evaluates existing coil coating and metal processing lines to reduce downtime, minimize waste, and maximize line productivity
• Utilize a process historian such as Rockwell/OSIsoft PI and ibaAnaylizer to capture real-time operational data, trace system anomalies, and drive root cause analysis (RCA).
• Perform heat transfer calculations and thermodynamic modeling to maximize energy efficiency of the company thermal systems. This includes water heating and cooling systems, and fluid chemical process systems. This requires a solid understanding of combustion systems, curing ovens, thermal oxidizers, heat exchangers and refractory/insulation linings.
• Manage combustion systems – Assist maintenance managers with tuning and troubleshooting of natural gas fired industrial burners, thermal oxidizers (recuperative/RTO), and combustion air delivery systems to guarantee complete volatile organic compound (VOC) destruction and safe gas-firing. Diagnose root causes of refractory degradation, hot spots, thermal cracking, or material failure.
• Studies & recommends techniques to improve existing equipment and processes.
• Coordinates design activities and installations with other departments.
• Provide process line technical support including, but not limited to, investigating improvement opportunities, troubleshooting equipment, and addressing operator inquiries as requested.
• Complete engineering calculations to validate implementation of new equipment or processes.
• Requisitions material and equipment for capital projects.
• Plans, schedules and supervises construction activities and participates in startup and evaluation of new equipment.
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering degree.
• 5+ years experience in process or industrial environment.
• Process knowledge and strong troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent computer hardware and software applications knowledge
• Data driven decision making; Effective use of process automation tools.
• Confident and steady under pressure
• Must be able to travel up to 25% and work within the operational facilities
